Hungry Monkey Baking Company: “Let Them Eat Cake”

Fans of Hungry Monkey Baking Company converged on Chef Sarah Stegner’s popular Prairie Grass Cafe  to help Hungry Monkey founder Cindy Kienzle decide her next cake creation. Kienzle recently asked her most loyal customers to choose her next creation; her only criterion was that it be chocolate. Suggestions rolled in via Hungry Monkey’s Facebook page, with finalist cakes revealed last night, as customers eagerly sampled away, voting for their favorite.

By the end of the evening,  Raspberry Ribbon Chocolate Cake edged out the competition, and will be rolled-out in Chicago-area grocery stores and on-line in early March.

Kienzle, a former Chicago Transit Authority executive said “social media, especially Facebook, has been critical to communicating with our grocery store and on-line customers, as we rarely have the opportunity to meet and thank them. The event seemed the perfect way to do just that.”

Hungry Monkey Baking Company’s “crazy-good” line-up also includes lemon vanilla bean cake, triple chocolate brownies, banana bread, chocolate chip macaroons, carrot cake and more, available in all Sunset Foods stores, Mariano’s Fresh Markets, Potash Markets and on-line at www.hungrymonkeybaking.com.
