Tucked in a century-old building in the heart of Chicago’s fashionable River North gallery district, top dogs, cats, and their companions have become smitten with Marcia De Andrade’s charming For Dog’s Sake boutique.
Since opening last spring, For Dog’s Sake’s collection of imported leather leashes, luxurious nap-inducing beds, faux jewel encrusted collars, eco-friendly toys and haute couture sweaters and clothing have become must-haves among Chicago’s four-legged fashionista set.
Yet, beyond the glam and glitz of “puttin’ on the dog,” the true heart and soul of For Dog’s Sake is animal champion Marcia’s commitment to helping pets lead a long and healthy life. Since opening the original For Dog’s Sake in Wicker Park 20-years ago (later moving to expanded headquarters now at 1757 North Kimball in Logan Square), she’s advocated a holistic approach to animal care. “I belief nature is the only perfect system and that there is no substitute for fresh, wholesome food, clean water, exercise, fresh air, and the avoidance of chemicals and drugs to the greatest extent possible.”
For 2-decades, De Andrade and For Dog’s Sake have developed a strong and loyal following, including veterinarians and trainers, offering a signature line-up of only the highest quality, all-natural, organic pet foods and treats, and is the Midwest distributor for top-rated Abady brand dog and cat food. “We’re excited to be part of the vibrant, creative River North scene, allowing us to provide a more intimate boutique setting than our larger flagship location in Logan Square. We’re thrilled to meet so many new customers from River North, Streeterville, Downtown, Near North and beyond, and partnering with them on the health and well-being of their pets,” says De Andrade.
For Dog’s Sake is located at 207 West Superior, Chicago, and is open Monday through Friday 11 a.m, to 7 p.m., Saturday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information visit www.fordogsake.com or call 312-944-4355.
